Scoring
- Each subtest is standardised; a composite TMS score (Gesamtpunktzahl) is calculated.
- The result is expressed as a percentile rank among all participants that year.
- Most universities count TMS as 20–51% of the overall selection score alongside Abitur.
- A score above the 80th percentile is generally competitive for top programmes.
How to prepare
- Practise each subtest type separately before attempting full mocks.
- Focus extra time on the knowledge subtest — it requires content revision.
- Speed and pacing: most candidates struggle with time, not difficulty.
- Take at least 2 full timed mocks in the weeks before the test.
- Use ITB's official practice materials as a starting point.
